Maintaining a skilled and dedicated workforce is vital to the success of Denholm Rees O’Donnell and, following the decline the training of engineers across the UK in the 1980s and 90s, the company took the decision that developing the next generation of engineers from within was the only way to ensure needs could be met.
This decision has proved its value many times over. Denholms typically have between 5 and 7 apprentices at any one time with 1 or 2 being taken on each year, and 1 or 2 skilled engineers graduating from the programme.
Continuing success has been demonstrated recently with 2 apprentices; Colin Coventry and Chris Richards graduating from their apprenticeships with flying colours – and both moving into full-time positions on the Denholms’ shop floor. Colin is responsible for production on a vertical machine centre while Chris works with a CNC lathe.
Denholm’s MD, Alan Hayes:
We appreciate their efforts and wish them every success in their careers with Denholms
